Named Marilyn for the great-grandmother who catalogued for the county library and wrote the 1979 letter to the postmaster at St Just. She does a version of the same job for a video software company founded in Nevada City in 1998 by a man who had been president of the Grass Valley Group, which is the county's whole industrial history in one sentence. She has spent four winters volunteering at the Nevada County Historical Society's archive, which holds over thirty thousand photographs and more than four thousand family portraits, and that is where she learned that a photograph nobody can name is a photograph that is already gone. She is the person who wants this site built.
